Little Sluggers (5-6 Year Old Modified T-Ball) Program
The Paola Recreation Commission is excited to offer a modified T-Ball program for boys and girls ages 5-6 (age cutoff is May 1, 2024) that will introduce concepts of Coach Pitch while focusing on teaching fundamental skills of the sport, teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship. In this program, participants will be thrown three (3) pitches to put the ball in play. If no contact is made after three (3) pitches, a batting T is brought out to hit from.
Teams will be coached by parent volunteers with coaches selecting their practice days and times. Teams may practice up to two times per week before the first scheduled game. Once games begin, teams will practice one time per week and play one game a week for the remainder of the season. Teams will play a 6-game season. All games will be played on Tuesday & Thursday evenings at the Wallace Park ballfields.
Each participant is required to have their own glove, batting helmet, bat(s), baseball pants, socks and shoes. The PRC will provide each participant with a uniform shirt and hat. The PRC will provide teams with practice equipment.
2024 Recreation/Season Information
- Registration Begins: Early March
- Registration Deadline: April 21st
- Practices will start the week of May 13th with all practice days/times being selected by the volunteer coaches
- Games will be played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting the end of May and go through June. All games will be played at Wallace Park ballfields
