Youth Recreation Basketball - 3rd-6th Grade Leagues
The Paola Recreation Commission is happy to offer youth basketball programs for boys and girls in grades 3rd-6th. The youth basketball program is a recreational based program that provides participants the opportunity to learn and play the game in a fun, positive and developmental atmosphere. Emphasis will be on teaching fundamental skills, teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship.
Teams may practice up to two times per week starting in December with practice days and times being selected by the volunteer coach. Once games begin, practices may be minimal and based on gym availability. Teams will play a 7-game regular season with games being played on Saturday’s and Monday's starting in January. Each team will be scheduled to play one or two Monday evenings throughout the season. An end of season tournament will follow the conclusion of the regular season games, with the tournament being played over multiple days.
**Teams in all age divisions will play in a league with the Osawatomie and Louisburg Rec Commissions, so there will be some travel required for games.
Participants will need to wear proper gym shoes. The PRC will provide each participant with a uniform shirt. The PRC will provide teams with practice equipment (basketballs, cones, etc.)
The basketball program is dependent on volunteer coaches. All teams will be coached by volunteer coaches with those coaches getting the opportunity to select their practice days/times. 2024/2025 Season Information
- Registration Begins: October 1st
- Registration Deadline: Early November
- Practices: Weekdays starting the week of Dec. 2nd
- Games will be played on Saturday's, Jan. 11th - Feb.22nd
