Punt, Pass, & Run - Fall 2024

Join us for an exciting Flag Football Skills Challenge where participants will showcase their athletic abilities in three key areas of the game: punting, passing, and speed. This event is designed to test your football skills in a fun and competitive environment.

• Punting Challenge: Demonstrate your ability to launch the ball with precision and power. Participants will be judged on both distance and accuracy.

• Passing Distance: Test your arm strength by hitting targets from various distances. Accuracy and consistency will determine the top performers.

• 40-Yard Dash: Speed is essential in flag football! Race against the clock in the 40-yard dash to see who has the fastest legs on the field.

This program is free to the public but you must register before the day of!

Location: Wallace Park Turf Baseball/Softball Fields

Time: 5:30pm-7pm

PRC/PHS Cross Country Fun Run - Fall 2024

Join the Paola Recreation Commission and the PHS Cross Country Team for the Paola Panthers Cross Country Fundraiser Fun Run on Saturday, November 16th!

This event offers something for everyone, with a 5K race, a 1-mile race, and a kids' race around the Paola Park Square. Registration begins at 7:00 AM, with the 5K and 1-mile races starting at 8:00 AM, the kids' race at 9:00 AM, and awards at 9:30 AM.

The race will start and finish on Pearl St at Park Square. Runners will run down Pearl St to Wallace Park and run through the park, incorporating the trails along with the road. They will then run back on Pearl St to finish back at Park Square. 

Register in advance for $20 per person for the 5K or 1 mile, which includes an event T-shirt. The kids' race is $12, with an option for a $5 registration without a T-shirt. Walk-up registration will also be available on race day for $30.

Sign up at paolarec.com by October 27th to guarantee your T-shirt! Proceeds will benefit the Paola High School Cross Country Program.

2024 Kindergarten Basketball - Fall 2024

The Paola Recreation Commission is excited to offer an instructional basketball program for kids in kindergarten.  The instructional program will be led by the PHS Girls Basketball team and coaching staff.  The program is geared to introduce the basic skills and fundamentals of the game in a fun, safe environment.  Emphasis will be on instruction, participation and having fun! The program will meet once a week for six weeks on Saturday mornings, Nov. 9th – Dec. 21st (no meeting on Nov. 30th) at the Paola High School main gym from 9am – 10am.  The first three weeks will be instructional based with the last three weeks having a combination of instruction and games.

The PRC will provide each participant with a uniform shirt.

2024-2025 Youth Basketball - Winter 2024

The Paola Recreation Commission is happy to offer youth basketball programs for boys and girls in grades 3rd to 6th. Teams will practice up to two times per week starting in December and play games on Saturday’s & Monday's starting in January and ending in February. Each team will be scheduled to play one or two Monday evenings throughout the season. Teams will play a 7-game regular season schedule, followed with an end of season league tournament that could be played over multiple days.

*Teams in all age divisions will play in a league with the Osawatomie and Louisburg Rec Commissions, so there will be some travel required for games. 

The PRC will provide each participant with a uniform shirt.  All participants will be required to wear proper gym shoes.  The PRC will provide teams with practice equipment (basketballs, cones, etc.)

2024 1st-2nd Grade 3v3 Basketball League - Fall 2024

The Paola Recreation Commission is excited to offer a 3v3, half-court youth basketball league for kids in grades 1st & 2nd. Practices will begin the week of Oct. 21st, with teams being able to practice up to two times per week with practice days and times being selected by the volunteer coach. Teams will play a 6-game season with all games being played on Saturday’s starting Nov. 2nd and going until Dec. 14th.  There will be no games on Saturday, Nov. 30th.

The PRC will provide each participant with a uniform shirt.  Teams will be provided equipment for practice (basketballs, cones, etc.)
