About the PRC


Mission Statement

We are committed to providing high quality recreational and leisure activities for the community in cooperation with the City of Paola and USD 368 to improve the quality of life for the community. 

Vision Statement

Promote a strong sense of community and enriching lives through developing, providing and maintaining quality programs and facilities.

The PRC shall fulfill its purpose by:
1. Organizing, leading, and promoting a planned year-round program of varied leisure time activities regardless of age, race, sex, religion, physical or mental disability and social or economic status
2. Assuring that all programs and activities are conducted in a safe, positive and supervised environment
3. Cooperating with the school district, city, and other community agencies with a similar mission regarding the planning, programming and facilities for recreational purposes
4. Continuously evaluating and researching policies, personnel, programs, facilities, and the direction of the Commission

Who We Are

The Paola Recreation Commission was created by the citizens of Paola by passing a ballot question in November of 2021.  We are a joint commission between the City of Paola and Paola School District.  The PRC Board of Directors is a 5-member volunteer board.  Two are appointed by the City of Paola, two are appointed by the Paola School District and 1 serves an at-large member.  The primary responsibilities of the PRC Board are to create policies and oversee the finances/budget of the PRC.

Board Meetings

The PRC Board of Directors meet every month on the 2nd Wednesday at 7pm in the upstairs Conference Room of Paola City Hall.  These meetings are subject to the Kansas Open Meetings Act (KOMA) and are open for the public to attend.
